Our homemade pizza has always been one of our favorite “go to” meals, but awhile back, Phil had a bad case of the stomach flu right after making one of our delicious pizza pies, so he’s not been able to stomach them ever since. The kids and I have missed them, so we decided to try a variation on the theme this weekend: Calzones. It worked, too! Phil is now back on pizza — calzone style!
This day began with a rain shower and an indoor learning session but ended with an emotional closing ceremony recognizing all of our wonderful participants that contributed to such an amazing week - and, as this community is so good at, a potluck gathering of great people!
The mudding day is always the most fun day! It’s hard to describe if you’ve never experienced it, but the spirit of the workshop changes on this day. From intense cooperative construction tasks to a calm but intense focus and interaction with the mud and strawbales. Not only the physical feel of handling the mud, but the repetition of placing it on the walls fosters relaxed conversation, friendships, and community. This is an important day.
