A new sheath for an old sword
Phil and Burke revived an old wooden sword they’d made last year by adding a new hilt and building a scabbard for it. They love to do fun projects like this together. It’s so cool to watch them interact - it’s like Phil becomes a kid again, and they both get so excited. It’s just fun to watch.

Spring Rolls
We were inspired to try Spring Rolls after eating at one of our favorite Thai restaurants recently. What we love so much about them is that they are like a little salad in a rice wrapper - so light and lovely. Our attempt tonight was a success! We all loved them, and at the end of dinner, Burke announced that he will now be making Spring Rolls every week as his weekly Friday meal (that he is in...

A Family Tromp
I took a couple days off to hang out with Phil and the kids for Spring Break, so we decided to take a Family Tromp in our creek today. What a blast we had! I attempted to capture it on film, but these pictures, as usual, don’t do it justice.

The baby broilers get new digs
Phil moved his first batch of 4-week old broilers out to pasture this week. I love to watch them because even though it’s a new experience for them, they love the grass and the bugs and the fresh air. You can just tell they’re happy!

Green eggs on St. Patrick's Day
Phil’s laying hens gave us a St. Patrick’s Day treat yesterday - 3 green pullet eggs! Very apropos for the day - how did they know? (It’s hard to tell in the photos, but the eggs are a light shade of green). I placed a regular sized brown egg next to them so you could see the difference in size. Pullet eggs are so teeny tiny and cute.

The sky over Sweetlove Farm
On Sunday afternoon, the sky was criss crossed with beautiful fluffy white lines. Did anyone in this area see it too? It must have been a nearby airbase (Fort Riley? Leavenworth?) running exercises or something because the planes were flying back and forth, back and forth creating the most amazing patterns. We couldn’t take our eyes off of it. Tick tack toe in the sky!

Fort
What kid doesn’t love to build a fort? We decided to build one this weekend in the middle of the living room. SUPER FUN! We kept it up almost all weekend and even watched a movie in it Saturday night - all 5 of us! So much fun we just might have to do it again this weekend!
